Freedom’s Last Breath

The two character play, Freedom’s Last Breath, written by Jackie Marx, is short and to the point. It examines the societal conflict between the combatant and the citizen.

Freedom’s Last Breath was chosen by the Dramatists Guild of America for the New Works Festival (Phoenix). The staged reading was directed by Charles St. Clair. The Soldier was played by Gregory Alkema, the Citizen by Daniel Peverini.

When war threatens, SOLDIER readies his weapon;
CITIZEN draws the proverbial line in the sand, in protest.
