About the Playwright

 Jackie Marx

Originally from the Chicago suburbs, Jackie has lived in the Phoenix area since 1991. She is a published author, playwright and composer. Rocket City! (The American Dream Interrupted), full-length musical drama, has been produced in the Chicago area (directed by Terry Domschke with musical direction by Jeff Grosser), Dallas, Texas (directed by Randy Tallman with musical direction by Russ Benzamin), and Phoenix, AZ (Phoenix College, directed by Gary Imel with musical direction by Dan Hooper). Rocket City!: The Musical Revue premiered at Theater Works (AZ), (directed by Jackie Marx with musical direction by Mark Foreman, assisted by Adam Berger).
Jackie has performed original music from the play throughout the United States and in Australia, at the Vietnam Veterans’ Welcome Home March in Sydney. Jackie performed her song You Took Me Down Under, a song written for the six Aussie vets who came to Chicago in 1986 for the Chicago Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Parade.
Upon returning home, she wrote The Flowers Have Come Home, a song about the ‘diggers’ who returned from the Vietnam War. My 9/11 song, Angels in the Ashes…Heroes Born that Day, an integral part of The Angels & Heroes Project, was sent to all first-response teams in New York and New Jersey.
